5 Valentine’s Day Makeup Tips

When you think of romantic holidays, you probably think of Valentine's Day.  This holiday, celebrate romance and love by wearing red and applying some easy Valentine makeup tips. A sexy romantic Valentine makeup look is perfect for a candlelight dinner for two or an
evening tryst.

Valentine Makeup Tip #1
Bronze your skin with YSL’s Terre Saharienne bronzing powder. Use a large powder brush and swirl the powder on your face, neck and shoulders. A Valentine's makeup look should be sexy and golden.

Valentine Makeup Tip #2
Golden eye shadows will make your eyes shine over a Valentine's dinner. Use Jane Iredale’s Glimmer Gold shadow on your entire eyelid. Apply Jane’s liquid black eyeliner to the upper lid of your eye and line the bottom. Apply several layers of black mascara to the upper and lower lashes. The black of the eyeliner will look great against your Valentine makeup.

Valentine Makeup Tip #3
This Valentine makeup tip will make your skin look flawless. Apply YSL’s Blush Variation powder cheek blush to the cheekbones. Sweep the makeup from the back of the cheekbone to the apples of the cheeks. Less is more, so start light and apply more as you need it.

Valentine Makeup Tip #4
Luscious red lip looks are trademark for a sexy Valentine makeup look. Use a lip scrub on lips to remove dead skin cells. Then apply a gentle lip balm. Define your lips with a red lip liner. Start on the top line drawing from left to the middle, then from the right to the middle. Do the same for the bottom lip. Draw in a sexy pout by using your lip liner in the center of the lower lip. Apply award-winning YSL Rouge Voluptè to your lips with a lip brush. Finish lipstick with best-seller YSL Golden Gloss to give your pout a 24kt sparkle.

Valentine Makeup Tip #5
Finish your makeup look with some hot red nail polish on your toes and fingers. Do not skimp on the color, go bold and go red! Use Deborah Lippmann’s, “Stop and Stare”.  Trust us, the boys will!

Brad Pitt for Kiehl’s

The world of celebrity endorsements is chock full of half-hearted, questionably-authentic advertisements and promotions. Not a day goes by where some company doesn’t announce some sort of “collaboration” with an A-List star, crafted to get US Weekly readers into stores around the globe.
But Kiehl's has done things a little differently in their collaboration with Brad Pitt. We like it when companies shirk tradition and do things differently.
If you’re not familiar with Kiehl’s, it’s a beauty and cosmetics maker that’s known for its old-school, natural formulations and minimalistic packaging. Through its collaboration with Brad Pitt, the company has launched a new product, Kiehl’s Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser ($17.00). The product is packaged in a 100% recyclable container, and is free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, and dyes, making it completely biodegradable.
100% of the profits from the sale of the product will go to JPF Eco Systems, a green charity that Pitt created with Kiehl’s. It’s estimated that that more than $1 million will go to support various environmentally-focused projects, beginning with "Make It Right, the post-Katrina charity that helps build eco-friendly homes in New Orleans.
What’s so great about this collaboration is that it’s geniune. Kiehl’s is known for using natural ingredients and formulations whenever possible, and readily accepts used packaging for recycling or refilling in its stores around the world. Pitt is a major force in the world of charity and the environment, and is already attached to numerous eco-focused causes and foundations. The partnership creates a new entity through which profits can be turned into progress.

UPDATE YOUR STOCK

Old makeup is disgusting. It may appear to be useful- but trust us amigo, it is not. It HOARDS bacteria-especially your mascara. That stuff is just waiting to attack you with an eye infection. Evil little thing it turns into.  Since it is it not possible to perform an Excorcism on your old beauty products (trust us, we've tried and let’s just say those demons won), here are some reminders to know when your makeup has a date with the garbage.

  • Smell. If your makeup even remotely starts smelling odd/different, then you know what to do. Mascara especially will develop an odor from all the bacteria gathering in the tube. Don’t commit makeup suicide. Ditch that sucker and buy a new one.
  • Time Elapsed. Here is a rule of how long makeup products last before you need to purchase new products.

  • MASCARA: 3 MONTHS (REMEMBER DO NOT PUMP MASCARA, IT BRINGS AIR AND BACTERIA INTO THE TUBE)
  • FOUNDATION : 1 YEAR
  • CONCEALER: 12-18 MONTHS
  • EYELINER- 18 MONTHS (REMEMBER TO SHARPEN OFTEN AND CLEAN SHARPENERS WITH ALCOHOL)
  • EYE SHADOW: 18 MONTHS
  • LIQUID EYELINER: 6 MONTHS
  • LIPSTICK: 18 MONTHS (LIPSTICK WILL DEVELOP WAX-LIKE CONSISTENCY AFTER TIME)
  • GLOSS: 18 MONTHS

Happy New Year! The champagne has been drank, the confetti swept up, and the decor put away. What's in store for you this year?

Our motto is out with the old and in with the new. This is the perfect time to clean out drawers, throw out anything old, and start this year fresh and organized. Toss the clumpy mascara and dried up lipsticks and start the year with a new look and a new year.
We will show you were to purge, and were to splurge.

Happy New Year and best wishes for 2011!
